Hey Peep,

It's me again, I will be review Half of a yellow sun (HOAYS). Lets start with if you loved the book you would totally HATE this movie. I saw the two posters online the one on the right is the one we had in Nigeria which is supposed to appeal to the Nigerian market because it has Onyeka onwenu, Genevieve Nnaji and Oc Ukeje infront even though Oc was in only one scene in the whole movie. The other one is for the international market which of course had Chinwetel and Thandie.

I will say what I liked about this movie, the acting was impeccable from Chinwetel Ejiofor, Thandie Newton, Anika noni Rose, Genevieve Nnaji, Onyeka Onwenu and all the others. The scenery where really realistic I believed the era they where going for (kudos to the art team).

The part I really did not like is that it didn't paint a picture as well as Chimamanda Adichie, her book was about the war and how it affected different classes of people. It was very vivid and beautifully told. This movie was a soap opera about love, and very little about the war. Our Nigerian cast did quite well I was so impressed I just wish the got better screen time, the other international casts had an american-igbo accent which was really hilarious (LOL).  My best character in this movie was Kainene (played by Anika Noni Rose) she was very upright, nose in the air and all I enjoyed her acting. I wish someone else will do a better adaptation of this book because I really enjoyed the book. I appreciate the hard work but I dont think justice was done to this piece of art.

Synposes:

The story for those unfamiliar with the book is about two sisters from a wealthy Nigerian family who at Nigeria’s independence set out on very different romantic paths, the cool, distant, sophisticated Kainene (Anika Noni Rose) begins a relationship with Richard (Joseph Mawle) an English writer whilst living the luxurious life of the Nigerian upper class while Olanna (Thandie Newton) settles down with a radical University lecturer Odenigbo (Chiwetel  Ejiofor) in the sleepy, comfortable university town of Nsukka. Olanna and Odenigbo’s idyllic life is interrupted by Odenigbo’s mother (Onyeka Onwenu), who through machinations brings about a rupture that spreads across both sisters relationships, this domestic discord is matched by the even greater crisis rocking the country first with a coup against the corrupt National Government and then a counter coup and subsequent massacres of Eastern Nigerian’s (mainly Igbo’s) who were ‘blamed’ for the first coup. The massacres lead to the secession of the
Eastern part of Nigeria as an independent country the Republic of Biafra. Whilst this is happening a baby is born and Olanna and Odenigbo flee repeatedly from the advancing Federal troops, sinking deeper and deeper into penury, experiencing the loss and deprivations of war.

Remember this is just my opinion if you think I am talking nonsense, please go see the movie and drop me a comment...

Later people... Enjoy the trailer:

HALF OF A YELLOW SUN REVIEW

Hello Peeps,

All hail the Queen of Nigerian comedy and movies in general Patience Ozokwor, she is one of those people that can't do anything wrong in my eyes, her acting is always funny, brilliant, and refreshing. She makes it look easy, and she wasn't any different in this movie.

What I like in this movie was the marriage list aspect of it, it shows how ridiculous some of the lists you get when you are getting married could be (LOL).

Honestly I thought the movie was just there, apart from Patience and Shawn Faqua that made me sit up everything else was like yeah yeah!

Lisa played by Keira Hetwatch was an interesting character. Belinda Effah and Theresa Edem played sisters really well. I actually find Anthony Monjaro very hilarious he doesnt have to do anything for me to find it funny.

Finally I really like the opening of the film it showed a unique relationship between mothers and daughters with boyfriends they don't approve of.

Synopsis:
A mother on a mission to get her three daughter of marriageable age, into husbands houses! One gets proposed to and the family faces another round of wahala to get the items necessary for her Bride price.

Written and produced by: Uduak Oguamanam & Uche Jombo
Directed by: Desmond Elliot

AFTER THE PROPOSAL

                                                                   Hello Peeps,
How was your weekend? Hope you all had a great one. Last week was very eventful Chinwetel was here in Lagos (yay!), also half of a yellow sun was premiere (watch out for my review). Well now I am reviewing the well talked about LAGOS COUGARS, The movie has the ever flawless Uche Jumbo, and Monalisa Chinda. It also had some new actors that where quite good. As usually I would say what I loved about the movie and what I totally hated ( please remember this is my opinion if you don't like it watch the movie and make you own).

What I loved about this movie are the fine boys chai! plenty of them, not just that they are fine they are good actors too. My favorite character in this movie was Diana Yekini she nailed her parts really well. I loved the dynamics between Monalisa Chinda and Benjamin Touitou characters although she has been a cougar in other movies, maybe that is why she was comfortable playing this part. Alex ekubo wasn't bad he was his usual hypher active self, only problem I think he has totally been type casted he should try acting other characters.

Now for the not so good news actually I didn"t get the houston scenes, I was not impressed I loved the Nigerian scenes better. I didn't like ( my opinion) the end plot for Monalisa and Benjamin I wanted more. How ridiculous was that ending please?! I guess cliche works some times.

I saw this review from the internet :
"Desmond’s Elliot’s direction is inconsistent; breezy at times, tacky at others and the script by Bola Aduwo and Ms Isong is the biggest problem here. It is unremarkable, riddled with Nollywood-style cliches and bad dialogue. When a character tells her friend -with all the subtlety of a moving train- something about getting her engine serviced or else it will knock, you just want to scream enough. No paying viewer deserves to sit through such inane dialogue."

I think this was not an accurate description of this movie, if you are one that enjoys nollywood movie you might just have a  blast watching this. Of course it isn't in the cinemas anymore as I am late to the party but you can always get it on DVD.

Synopses:
This movie follows the lives of three lagos middle aged women and their relationships with younger men.

MEET THE NEW AND IMPROVED LEKKI WIVES

Hello Peeps,

Where exactly do I start from ok I will start from the few tiny issues I had with the series before I go to the juicy stuff. I wanted to see more of Uju(Katherine Obiang), her scenes were reduced I guess they have their reasons. At the end of the series it was more about adverts and stuff. I would have loved to see more of the women all together in a scene (BTW this is just my opinion).

On to the stuff I totally Loved!! First the addition of Joselyn Dumas was spectacular, she brought a new spin to the series, the story for her character Aisha was really deep. She also pulled off being a lekki wife remarkably. Miranda (Adaora Ukoh) nne you dey try jare good job, Cleopatra (Chinoso Young) I love the connection of her story from the last season awesome!, lovette (Kiki Omeili) my best character for this season, she nailed her part really well, I became a huge fan. Peace (Keira Hewatch) I expected more from this character this season and voila! I got all I wanted and more. Uju was her usual amazing self she caused a lot of problems as usual (LOL)

Let me talk a little on the guys and the new characters that where added this season, so I don't give away anything I will stick to their real names or how you may best remember them. Ani Iyoho(Kiki's Ex husband) made a come back in this season, he was really great at playing his role even the make out session mmmh! Oluchi Slyvia was a breath of fresh air she created choas in such an amazing way. All the male actors in this movie were exceptional, they pull off their role remarkably.

To Blessing Effion Egbe as someone once said "nne I love your brain"(in an igbo accent), this story was classic, major killer plots, you never see the gist unfolding until it unfolds. If you have something to do please complete you mission before watching LEKKI WIVES 2 because you cant stop watching.

My piece of advice to you go and get LEKKI WIVES 2(yes o am adverting oh!) thats how much i believe you would enjoy it.

Enjoy the teaser:

REVIEWS!!

Hey Peeps,
I have a confession, when I sat in front of the TV watching AMVCA and "Contract" kept winning everything I was shock and in awe. The poster which is what I saw before didn't look like something I would enjoy watching. Yesterday I went to buy some movies to watch and review, I saw the contract, of course I bought it.

Here is the thing this is a romantic comedy with a difference it can play successfully on any platform both nationally and internationally. The acting in this movie isn't something to comment on (it was that good) it was done so well that you can get lost in the story instead of the characters. Official I think Yvonne Okoro is the best thing since sliced bread (LOL). When I saw Hlomla Dandala on the poster I was like really? how can the jacob's cross dude act a Rom-com well he showed me  after all! ( A brillant actor is just that BRILLANT). It also shows the struggles of pregnancy and young people in search of survival.

Let me go down to the script writer of this movie ( i hail oh) that was exceptional writing because without you what we saw couldn't possibly come to life. Shirley Frimpomg-manso you are a force to be reckoned with. Another thing I like about this movie is the sound tracks which were perfectly placed at each point, good one.

THE FILM IS ABOUT: A successful entrepreneur, Peter Popolampo (Hlomla Dandala) who in his quest to find the woman who will take his money, have his child and disappear, begins a roller coaster, contracted relationship with Abena Boateng (Yvonne Okoro), a crude but clever local girl who is anything but impressed with Peter’s affluence.
I would say there are loads of twists and turns in this movie which you will thoroughly enjoy take it from me.. I know this is an old film but if you haven't seen it yet then you are seriously sleeping on tooth pick.
Enjoy the trailer, then go buy the film you can afford it (LOL)
