The CEO-the movie

 Hello my lovelies,

Let me start by apologising for my long silence. It was almost out of my control (not that am trying to make excuses for myself) but let’s look on the sunny side of things: am back for good. Hope you all missed me as much as I did..(Let me gush for a bit) it feels extremely great to be back and I pledge (pinky swear) to be of better behaviour. Okay?? Okay..

Now to the business of the day, we are putting Kunle Afolayan’s THE CEO on the chopping board today. As we all know, Kunle Afolayan is a multiple award winning film maker who has successful movies like ‘Phone swap’, ‘October 1’, ‘figurine’ under his belt. So it’s safe to say that he knows the true taste of success and trust me when I say this movie was in no way short of expectation. Let me start from the scratch of every film which is the script which was written by the master himself, Tunde Babalola(AMVCA two time winner).

This movie (written by TUNDE BABALOLA) is one of the most well written movies ever made this year, I say this without any bias: the dialogue is serenading and somewhat playful but still portrays every element of seriousness. Every character was given due flesh and fibre, thereby life itself. The 3 acts of writing were perfectly explored as the progression from exposition to conflict to climax to resolution were crystal. The suspense was maintained from top to bottom as the movie took the approach of story telling. After seeing this movie, I must say that I respect this writer a lot more.
Thumbs up to the production designer (PAT NEBO).. He did an excellent job, the movie had beautiful pictures, sights and scenery. The lighting designer and director of photography also did a meticulously fine job, not forgetting the editor who pulled the final cut in the ensemble. I was particularly impressed by the character of ‘Kola’ played by Wale Ojo and ‘Dr Zimmerman’ played by Angelique Kidjo. They were so detailed and in form..

On the flip side, we all know that there’s no such thing as a perfect work of art. In the scene where one of the characters supposedly committed suicide by slitting her wrist, the make-up was poorly executed and the blood too, were we meant to believe that that was all the blood in her body?? Really? And also, the part where Kola was knocked into the pool and wakes up the next morning on shore. One would imagine that he should at least wonder how he got out of the pool being that he earlier stated that he can’t swim to save his life, but we didn’t really see that.

This movie was shot in Nairobi Kenya, Abidjan Ivory Coast, Johannesburg South Africa, Casablanca Morocco, Lagos Nigeria and Paris France. It stars top players in the film industry such as Wale Ojo, Kemi Lala Akinboju, grammy award winner Angelique Kidjo, Aurelie Eliam, Hilda Dokubo, Jimmy Jean Lious, Peter King, Nico Panagio and a guest appearance by Adekunle Gold.

SYNOPSIS
The movie is set majorly on the beautiful INAGBE GRANDE RESORT AND LEISURE in Lagos State, Nigeria. It focuses on the mystery surrounding five top executives of a multi-million telecommunication company across Africa who converge for a one week long leadership retreat in a bid to find a replacement for the recently resigned ceo.

In all, I would strongly recommend this movie for everyone out there. Kunle Afolayan out did himself this time and I am proud to be Nigerian (not minding the change ) all thanks to this beautiful work of art.

Hear is  the trailer Enjoy
